HANDING TAKING OVER CEREMONY OF SIX COMMUNITY POLICE PATROL CARS
A handing taking ceremony for six Community Police Patrol Cars for the Community Police Centres in Thimphu was held on 30 October 2014 at the Royal Bhutan Police Headquarters, Thimphu. The six patrol cars were procured through the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Projects (GGP), Government of Japan. The patrol cars was inaugurated and handed by Mr. Yasuhisa Kawamura, Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of Japan in New Delhi on behalf of the Government of Japan to Additional Chief of Police, Royal Bhutan Police. The ceremony was attended by representatives from the Embassy of Japan in India, JICA office, , MoHCA, GNH, local government leaders and officers of the Royal Bhutan Police.
The project cost amounting to US$ 78,969 provides six patrol cars to the six Community Police Centres in Thimphu and is aimed at delivering prompt police services to the communities, fostering positive police public relationship and heightening the sense of safety and security in the communities.
The Government of Japan hopes that six patrol cars provided through this project will contribute towards making Thimphu city safe and secure for people to live and further enhance the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Japan and Bhutan.
