Special Reserve Police Force (SRPF)

The Special Reserve Police Force shall be selected from the officers and other ranks. Specialized training shall be imparted to the SRPF police persons for security duties, anti-insurgency and anti-terrorism operations, rescue operations during natural disasters, riot control drills and commando operations. The SRPF shall have its HQs and training centre at Chukha. The force shall remain at high level of preparedness for any role and task that may be assigned. The maximum age limit of the SRPF police persons shall be 45 years after which they shall be transferred to other divisions. It shall comprise of the following units:
(a) Administration and Accounts Unit;
(b) Motor Transport Unit;
(c) Engineering Unit;
(d) Special Action Group; and
(e) Special Reserve Group.

The roles and responsibilities of the SRPF under the supervision of DCoP, Special Police Branch shall be to:
(a) Conduct specialized counter terrorism response and anti- insurgency operations;
(b) Support and supplement security duties;
(c) Carry out any other commando operation and special missions;
(d) Support local police in times of serious breakdown of law and order situation;
(e) Reinforce manpower for any other important task;
(f) Prescribe specific roles and responsibilities to the units under it from time to time; and
(g) Carry out any other roles assigned from time to time.
