Social and Cultural Committee consults the Royal Bhutan Police
The Social and Cultural Committee today conducted consultation meetings with the Royal Bhutan Police on the Royal Bhutan Police (Amendment) Bill of Bhutan 2021. The meetings are conducted in preparation to submit the Amendment Bill for the third reading with the Committee’s recommendations in the upcoming sixth session.
The Committee, in the morning, met and consulted a team led by the Chief of Police, Major General Chimi Dorji. The meeting explored the issues and challenges with the current Royal Bhutan Police Act 2009 and the possible way forward in the amendments. The meeting also discussed in detail the pros and cons of the proposed amendment.
In the afternoon, the Committee also met with the police personnel from various ranks to seek their views and opinions on amendments that should be included in the Bill.
