Police Forensic Services Division

This Division under the supervision of the DCoP, Crime and Operations Branch shall be responsible for management, monitoring and delivery of forensic services and expertise to the field divisions and shall comprise of the following units:
(a) Administration and Accounts Unit;
(b) Laboratory Services Unit; and
(c) Monitoring and Support Unit.

The roles and responsibilities of this division shall be to:
(a) Strengthen and develop the Police Forensic Laboratory;
(b) Carry out analysis of specimen collected from the scene of occurrence for evidence and give forensic guidance to the IOs;
(c) Provide expert opinion and interpretation as per the law;
(d) Monitor, strengthen and develop forensic support units in the police stations;
(e) Strengthen capacity of the forensic personnel deployed in the field;
(f) Maintain relations with recognized Forensics Laboratories within and outside country for referral of samples for analysis and expert opinions;
(g) Maintain database and evidence bank for future reference;
(h) Carry out examination of the questioned documents and give expert opinion thereof;
(i) Provide assistance to the field divisions as and when required;
(j) Prescribe specific roles and responsibilities to the units under it from time to time; and
(k) Carry out any other roles assigned from time to time.
