Fire and Rescue Services Division

The Fire and Rescue Services Division shall have fire stations and units in various Dzongkhags and Thromdes. The fire fighting engines and fire security system shall be procured by the respective Dzongkhags/ Thromdes and shall be handed over to the fire units in the police stations. They shall be managed and operated by the fire units of the respective police stations. This division shall comprise of the following Units:
(a) Administration and Accounts Unit;
(b) Motor Transport Unit;
(c) Engineering Unit;
(d) Fire Fighting Unit;
(e) Rescue Unit; and
(f) Prevention and Inspectorate Unit.

The roles and responsibilities of the Fire Services and Rescue Division under the supervision of DCOP, Special Police Branch shall be to:
(a) Prevent and control fire;
(b) Rescue and evacuate casualties;
(c) Perform rescue and evacuation operations in times of natural disaster;
(d) Conduct fire safety awareness;
(e) Prescribe specific roles and responsibilities to the units under it from time to time; and
(f) Assist in investigation of fire accidents and give expert opinion on cause of fire.
