|In an effort to bring police services closer to the communities, the Royal Bhutan Police established four Gewog Gagdey offices. The Additional Chief of Police (ACOP) inaugurated the Gewog Gagdey office in Chokhorling under Sarpang Dzongkhag, and Norbuling under Gelephu Dungkhag on 26 October 2017 and Kheng Buli under Zhemgang Dzongkhag on 27 October 2017.
The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Punakha, inaugurated the Laya Gewog Gagdey office under Gasa Dzongkhag on 19 October 2017.The Gewog Gagdey(s) have been established with the aim to restructure policing to meet the emerging needs of Rural Communities by promoting increased contact and partnership with the people.
The Gewog Gagdey in Chokhorling will benefit the people residing in Chokhorling, Nobgang, Dekiling, Jigmeling and the Special Economic Zone, the Gewog Gagdey in Norbuling will benefit the people residing in Sersong, Chuzegang, Umling and Tarithang Gewog. The Kheng Buli Gewog Gagdey will benefit the people in Nangkhor, Bardo and Shingkhar Gewog under Zhemgang Dzongkhag. Further, the Laya Gewog Gagdey office is expected to benefit approximately 1199 people in Laya under Gasa Dzongkhag.
