The Chief of Police inaugurated the child friendly pre trial center in Thimphu today. With this opening RBP completed two such centers, one in P/ling, another at HQs partnering Save the Children.
With a clean and homely atmosphere the center is expected to give children the required privacy and also contribute towards fulfilling the legal mandates of looking into the “best interest of the child” whenever a child comes in conflict with the law. Such centers are first of its kind in the country and will immensely help in sheltering children who come in conflict with the law.
“We are gathered here once again to celebrate the success of partnership between the RBP and Save the Children, Bhutan. Today, we are here to mark yet another milestone in our partnership” the Chief of Police remarked in his opening speech.
The opening of the center also marks 18 long years of partnership between the RBP and Save the Children. The Chief of Police expressed his gratitude to Save the Children and requested Save to further convey the gratitude of all children and women to the donors for their generosity and support.
The inaugural was attended by National Director, Save the Children and his team of officers, officials from Nazhoen Lamtoen, senior officers of RBP, media personnel and other officials.
