On 24 February 2016, a total of 12 officers of Royal Bhutan Police were promoted to their next higher ranks upon the gracious approval of His Majesty, the King. The 12 officers comprised of 08 Lt Colonel, 03 Major and 01 Captain serving in various capacities in the Police Headquarters and Field Divisions.
The promotion of the officers have been processed by the Human Resources Committee and submitted to the Royal Bhutan Police Service Board as provisioned under section 180 of the Police Act, 2009 and section 186 of the Police Service Rules and Regulations 2012. The 2nd Police Service Board during its 5th Sitting held on 22 December 2015 has recommended the promotion of the above officers.
The Minister of Home and Cultural Affairs awarded the ranks to the officers of rank of Lt Colonel and the Chief of Police awarded the ranks to the officers of rank of Major and Captain. On congratulating each one of them, the Minister of Home and Cultural Affairs and the Chief of Police briefed them that the promotion to the next higher rank signals added responsibilities as public servants and they all must continue to serve the Tsa-Wa-Sum with unwavering loyalty and dedication.
