Nationwide Drug Appeal to the Public and Youth
The Royal Bhutan Police carried out the nationwide drug appeal to the public and the youth on 18 August 2014.

The program in Thimphu was graced by the Hon’ble Education Minister, Lyonpo Mingbo Dukpa as the Chief Guest. The Chief of Police during his inaugural speech thanked all stakeholders – BDBL, BOBL, RICBL, BNBL, Punatsangchu I & II, Association of Bhutanese Tour Operators, DHI, Drukair Corporation Ltd, BNCA, PCA, BTCL and media houses - Kuensel, Druk Yoezer, Bhutan Today and BBS for their generous contributions in making the program possible.

The Program included reading out the Message in the Appeal Note to the Citizens throughout the country with updates on activities carried out by the Royal Bhutan Police to stop smuggling of narcotic drugs and their abuse in the country since 2nd December 2013 with arrests and drug seizures till date and the presence of strong Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act in Dzongkha and English languages for the benefit of all citizens.

The Program included distribution of Drug Appeal Fliers and Posters by the Hon’ble Chief Guest to the representatives of important Stakeholders in Thimphu including Thimphu Thromde, Education Ministry, City Police and Tshogpa of Taxi Association for their distribution. The program is yet another Prevention initiative of the Royal Bhutan Police in combating and reducing drug related crimes in the country.

Through this nationwide program on Drug Appeal, the Royal Bhutan Police seeks the continued and unfailing assistance and cooperation of all citizens in stopping the smuggling of narcotic drugs and their abuse in order to reduce victimization from such related crimes. The RBP through the appeal, request all citizens to furnish and provide information on illegal business of drugs and drug abuse in the country and thereby help reduce problems associated with such abuse.
