RBP Division XIII established in Chamkhar
The Royal Bhutan Police opened its new division office (Division XIII) in Chamkhar, Bumthang yesterday taking the total number to 13.

Bumthang dzongda Sangay Thinley and Additional Chief of Police Colonel Chimi Dorji inaugurated the division office.
Although crime rate in Bumthang is not as high as other regions, the nature of crime is a concern. Vandalism and theft of antiques are major crimes reported in Bumthang. “Besides, the town will be expanded and there’ll be more tourists. Number of pilgrims visiting Bumthang will also increase and need to monitor accordingly. The division, headed by a superintendent of police (SP), has 53 police personnel under it. The SP will comprehend the prevalence of crimes in Bumthang and apply for additional manpower. The most common crimes committed in Bumthang are assault, battery, burglary, armed robbery, larceny, and offenses against cultural and national heritages. RBP will establish division offices in the remaining districts of Dagana, Zhemgang, Gasa, Haa, Pemagatshel, Tashiyangtse, and Lhuentse soon.
