The Fire Services Division is located at Changzamtog, Thimphu.The fire service has been first started in 1972 by setting up a Fire Fighting Section at Thimphu Police Station, with two fire engine and 9 personnel.

In 1977, separate Fire Fighting Unit at Changzamtog has been established, with 3 fire engines and 36 personnel. With the gradual expansion of fire services in the districts, the unit has been upgraded to the present Fire Services Division in the year 2001. It now provides fire service to the Thimphu city and all the towns of 20 Dzongkhags, with 27 fire engines and 86 firefighters.
